Yukon Mountain Caribou At Its Best

Trip Description

Hunt trophy mountain caribou in the vast wilderness of the Yukon, where open tundra, rugged valleys, and sweeping high-country basins create one of the most thrilling and productive caribou experiences anywhere. These hunts are regarded among the best available, offered as a dedicated caribou pursuit or added onto most other big-game hunts when quota allows. Rutting bulls typically average 360–390 B&C, with multiple giants topping the 400 mark each season. Many display striking white manes and bold markings that run back toward the hip, giving Yukon bulls their unmistakable character.

Caribou are hunted by horseback, Argo, or backpacking, with long glassing sessions from elevated vantage points and steady travel through proven travel corridors. Hunters often see numerous animals each day, and caribou frequently wander within close range—sometimes within 30 yards of the horses—providing unforgettable encounters and outstanding photo opportunities. Success rates remain extraordinarily high, often near 100%, and even hunters adding caribou onto a moose hunt commonly tag both animals.

For those seeking the next level of challenge, a very limited Special Late Hunt is offered—a wintery, high-adventure trip set around the rutting grounds of migrating herds. It’s a demanding hunt reserved for those willing to “do what it takes,” but the chance at a once-in-a-lifetime bull makes it a memorable and truly exceptional Yukon experience.
