Trip Description
Hunt trophy mountain goats in the Yukon, where immense wilderness, sweeping ridgelines, and rugged northern peaks create one of Canada’s most challenging and rewarding guided mountain goat hunting experiences. Goats in this region are exceptionally large-bodied — with mature billies often reaching 400 pounds — and the high country is so exposed that snow can fall even in July and August, producing long, premium hair even on early-season hunts.
Experienced Yukon mountain hunting guides access these remote goats by bush plane, horseback, or backpack, depending on the terrain and hunter preference. The region supports lightly hunted mountain goat populations with excellent age structure, and the average billy measures around 9¼ inches. Ceaser Lake is also the only area in the Yukon with authorized mountain goat permits, and this outfitter is issued a fair number of them annually, hunters enjoy rare, exclusive access to a carefully managed population.
Hunts combine extended glassing sessions with steep alpine stalks and can be tailored to be as demanding or moderate as each hunter prefers. These goats can be pursued on 7- or 10-day Yukon mountain goat hunts, either as single-species adventures or as high-value add-ons to early August sheep hunts or fall moose, caribou, or grizzly hunts. The focus is on mature, representative billies and delivering an authentic, ethical mountain experience — a philosophy that has contributed to near-100% opportunity, including for archery hunters.
For hunters seeking a remote northern adventure with incredible scenery, huge-bodied goats, long-haired capes, and rare access to one of the Yukon’s most limited-entry species, this region stands out as a top destination for trophy Yukon mountain goat hunts and truly unforgettable high-country experiences.
